Disarming law abiding Americans



On the attempts of government to disarm law abiding Americans:  Listen closely, the drums are beating, the march is on.  An army of people are encircling the Constitution with the intent of removing all its relevance.  Ever so slowly, one drum-beat at a time, inching forward making the changes in such incremental fashion nobody notices.  Sophisticated military fighter planes to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, weapons they want to ban in the U.S. sent to the drug cartels in Mexico, U.S. citizens left behind in Benghazi, continued spending to unsustainable levels, inflation creeping upward, elitists making policy in Washington, military generals being dismissed by civilian power, military resources being slashed, middle east countries being established as Al Qaeda launch platforms, destruction of terms like "global terror", "war on terror", or "terrorist".  With the country reaching a majority of citizens dependently sustained on the public dole, the politicians are moving slowly, but surely, toward a European-type economy of collectivism to the destruction of the U.S. Constitution.

Now what?

Just when we think we have everything figured out a decision like the one Chief Justice John Roberts made comes along. Nobody thought that Chief Justice Roberts would make such a decision regarding the healthcare issue.

Isn't that the way it is when we pray to God? We have something in our own mind an answer that we think is a logical answer, but God comes along and gives an answer that is not the way we thought it would be; but it always turns out to be just the right thing. We need to trust God that he is in control and the right decision has been made, because The God of the universe does not make mistakes!

Now...

In light of the ruling by the SCOTUS regarding healthcare, consider the following:

 The Christian has a responsibility to recognize the government and obey the laws and the leadership of the government.

 Corruption was identified by Solomon in his book of Ecclesiastes when he recorded for us the following information:

 “If you see the extortion of the poor or the perversion of justice and fairness in the government, do not be astonished by the matter. For the high official is watched by a higher official, and there are higher ones over them! The produce of the land is seized by all of them. Even the king is served by the fields.” (Ecclesiastes 5:8-9)

 Corruption and perversion of justice completed at all levels of the government bureaucracy. Resources produced by the people are seized at every level, including the king. Instead of manna from God given to the people, it is personal property taken by the government to support the layers of officials from the lowest official to the court of the King.

 God had ruled with Wisdom beyond the human mind. But with human government ascending to leadership, wisdom waned as it trickled through the layers of bureaucracy. The third King of Israel, Solomon, wrote again in Ecclesiastes the following insight on the matter:

 “Who is a wise person? Who knows a solution to a problem? A person’s wisdom brightens his appearance, and softens his harsh countenance. Obey the king’s command, because you took an oath before God to be loyal to him. Do not rush out of the king’s presence in haste – do not delay when the matter is unpleasant, for he can do whatever he pleases. Surely the king’s authority is absolute: no one can say to him, ‘What are you doing?’ Whoever obeys his command will not experience harm, and a wise person knows the proper time and procedure. For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, for the oppression of the king is severe upon his victim. Surely no one knows the future, and no one can tell another person what will happen. Just as no one has power over the wind to restrain it, so no one has power over the day of his death. Just as no one can be discharged during the battle, so wickedness cannot rescue the wicked. While applying my [Solomon] mind to everything that happens in this world, I have seen all this: Sometimes one person dominates other people to their harm.” (Ecclesiastes 8:1-9)

 We must be satisfied with the wisdom of men to rule with the wisdom of men if we have turned from the Wisdom of God and His rule.

 Now for the Christian all of this history of God’s people abdicating God’s rule to man’s rule may not seem relevant. However, from the writings from the Apostle Paul we find it is the Christian’s responsibility to be submissive to Civil Government. In his letter to the Christians in Rome, Paul gave the following word as inspired by the Holy Spirit:

 “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God. So the person who resists such authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment (for rulers cause no fear for good conduct but for bad). Do you desire not to fear authority? Do good and you will receive its commendation, for it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be in fear, for it does not bear the sword in vain. It is God’s servant to administer retribution on the wrongdoer. Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities but also because of your conscience. For this reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants devoted to governing. Pay everyone what is owed: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.” (Romans 13:1-7)

 We are not talking about any specific form of government here except “governing authorities.” We must take from this passage the authority of the Apostle Paul in his admonition to submit to the governing authorities. The reason is simple: “There is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God.”

Keep in mind, however, if the government forces us to turn away from God or requires us to not obey God we must resist. In the earliest beginnings of the Church we have an excellent example from the Apostles Peter and John who had healed a lame man through the power of Jesus. This disturbed the leaders who commanded the two Apostles to cease speaking of Jesus. The writer of the Acts of the Apostles [Luke] recorded for us the results of this matter:

 “And they [the leaders] called them [Peter and John] in and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, ‘Whether it is right before God to obey you rather than God, you decide, for it is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard.’” (Acts 4:18-20)

Therefore, our first responsibility is to submit ourselves to God and His Will. We must obey the laws of the land and obey the government in regard to taxes, laws and requirements for living. The exception is when the government attempts to require us to disobey God, or substitute our worship of God to any other than the One and Only True God of the universe.

Stimulus growth myth

Government stimulus:  The government does not produce a product or service that generates income.  Money comes to the government by confiscation of that money by the government through laws and regulations imposed on those who work for incomes.  This is usually referred to as income tax, corporate tax, user tax, property tax, or some other kind of tax imposed on the individual with an income.  A portion of each individual's income is handed over to the government even before the individual is paid.  This is the information printed on the individual's check stub that is labeled income tax, FICA, Medicare, State income tax, and in some cases city or county taxes.  If the individual tries to hide or prevent the government from taking the income from the individual, the individual is punished with fines or imprisonment. 

Once the government has possession of the individual's income the representatives of the government freely spend the money as they see fit.  They oftentimes spend the money on special interest groups that directly or indirectly benefit the public official who has the authority to spend the money.  Special projects in public official's districts are funded as an aid to help the public official be re-elected to the office or position numerous times in order to keep the power of managing the money confiscated from the individuals with income.

When the government officials decide to use a portion of the money confiscated from individuals for "infrastructure jobs" or other special projects, those jobs usually do not produce further income.  They are never sustaining nor self-sufficient to the point of reducing the need for more public money.  Moreover, the stimulus money for specific jobs usually require an oversight structure that pays individuals to supervise, manage, administrate, direct or otherwise act as a form of Chief Executive Officer of the funding stream.  For each dollar of the stimulus money used to stimulate spending through the application of some sort of infrastructure job, a significant percentage of each dollar is used for the oversight structure.

When the stimulus money is used to pay for services in the federal, state or local community, it automatically becomes a job that cannot be sustained unless the money from the stimulus source is continued indefinitely.  When the stimulus money runs out there is generally no mechanism in place that will carry the job forward in the future.  Therefore, the person holding that job will usually be laid off and will join the ranks of the unemployed again.

When the government wants or needs more money it simply takes more money from each individual wage earner.  Taxes are raised and a greater percentage of the individual's wages are confiscated.  It is done in hundreds of ways.  Products or services that people want are identified and the government levies a new tax on that product or service.  In addition to the individual's income or wage being taxed, the government taxes the money the individual has left.  The government does that by requiring businesses to collect taxes like sales tax charged on each item of product or service they sell and turn that tax money over to the government. 

Businesses usually cannot afford to absorb the higher taxes the government imposes on their products or services, so the amount of tax the government imposes on those products or services is added to the cost of those products or services.  Then when the individual purchases those products or services the business charges the cost of the product or service and the tax.  The business keeps the earnings of the service or product to replace the purchased product or service, and then surrenders the taxes collected for the government over to the government.  Therefore, the government, through laws and regulations has forced each business in the United States to serve as a tax collector for the government.

The government officials have developed a windfall profit scheme for themselves.  Through the enactment of laws that have the authority to put citizens in prison for many years, they can extract as much money as they want from the average citizen who works for a salary.  They can, and do, tax almost everything that exists.  All people pay taxes to the government.  Each person who works to make a salary pays first right off the top of their check by the use of "payroll deductions."  The portion the government believes is their "fair share" of the individual's salary is taken even before the individual is issued their check.  If the individual does not have enough taken out and falls short of what the government has decided as their "fair share" at the end of the year the employee makes it up by paying more lump sum taxes.  If the payroll deduction number has been too low in the government's opinion, the individual must pay a fine to the government for not deducting enough.  If the individual overpays by having more deducted throughout the year and it requires a "refund" at the end of the year, the government will also fine the individual for causing them to have to issue a refund.

In summary, the federal government is comprised of the President, Congress and the Supreme Court.  There are 535 members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives.  The Congress makes the laws and the President signs them into law.  The Supreme Court judges if they are consistent with the United States Constitution.  Those few people make up the entirety of the law-making process.  They are responsible for the thousands of taxes and the spending of the individual's tax money.

Government stimulus does not really work that well since the money is taken from individuals who earn a living by working and making a salary.  By taking money from the workers and giving, or redistributing, it to others who do not work to make a salary only tends to de-motivate the workers and at the same time kill the incentive to work in the individuals who do not have jobs.  This pattern has been seen in most of the socialistic societies throughout the world. 

Since the government only has money that was taken from individuals who are wage earners, there has to be a limit on what is spent.  As the government spends more and more of the individual's earned wages, there is a slow-down in the economy since the government does not produce any product that is renewable and sustaining.  The government does not build wealth; it only spends confiscated wages earned by others.

A King’s influence

The influence of a king can be great; it can build up the people who are ruled or tear down and dishearten the ruled. Through the years many forms of government have existed, from absolute monarchy to a republic or democracy. In one way or another people who are ruled or governed are affected positively, neutrally or adversely. In the American society most people who have lived their lives under the democracy that allows for voting and the expression of various freedoms generally believe it to be the better form of government.



America’s early history began with the desire to worship without restriction and with the “state” not in control of how one worshiped. Through the years of early foundations the people of America developed the desire to form a government that allowed for checks and balances that placed the will of the people above the rulers. The revolutionary war was fought in part to break free from the tyranny that was imposed from a foreign monarch. With America’s Declaration of Independence and later the Constitution that balance of power was vested in “We the People” through an Executive, Judicial and Legislative sharing of power based on the laws established by the founding fathers.


In the United States of America the President, the Supreme Court and the Congress are separate and independent of each other as a law is formed, developed, signed, implemented and then verified as Constitutional by the Judicial Branch of government. Laws are tested by the people and sometimes repealed as needed by following the founder’s established blueprint embedded in the Constitution. Through the years, however, governments can and do change.

The Bible says in Proverbs 29 that “If a ruler listens to lies, all his ministers will be wicked." (Proverbs 29:12)


It is true that those whom a person chooses to surround him to receive advice will be influenced in ways that he may not have thought of. It is likely that in this advice from the Bible that the writer, Solomon, observed that a ruler over the people chooses council to provide suggestions about what to do. When the ruler pays attention and gives heed to the advice of those who lie, he is sending a message to those who are providing such false advice. That message is permission to continue to provide lies in their advice since the ruler is listening to and heeding that advice. The cycle of misinformation grows until the actions of the ruler cannot be understood by the people under his rule. Ultimately, his closest advisors may have to turn to evil practices to gain his favor if he is continually swayed by such lies.

In verse four of that same chapter in Proverbs, Solomon writes, “A king brings stability to a land by justice, but one who exacts tribute tears it down." (Proverbs 29:4)


It is interesting to note that the ruler’s influence has a dramatic effect on the people who are under his rule. He actually makes the nation strong by the influence of his own character and strength. His justice by his actions builds the national image and the people follow his lead and afford him honor and respect. He is looked up to and admired for his strength, security and stability.


However, as he begins to look upon himself as the provider of that strength he begins to draw tribute to himself and thereby weakens the will and resolve of the people under his rule. By ”extracting” higher and higher taxes and “tribute” for himself, he tears down the will of the people and destroys their motivation to continue to work. Ultimately the ruler breaks the backs of the people by demanding heavy taxes and placing them in unimaginable debt. The final outcome under that kind of rule is division and strife that often leads to a revolt against the ruler and his advisors.


Finally, Solomon says in his writings, “If a king judges the poor in truth, his throne will be established forever." (Proverbs 29:14)


The ruler has a responsibility to judge in fairness and with equity. He must dispense the laws not just as prescribed by the government, but in the way that God has intended for them to be carried out. The ruler should rule even handily and not provide a miscarriage of justice toward any group of people simply because they are members of a certain class or subdivision of people in the society.


The word “throne” in this Proverb likely means that it is established for an extended period; based on the consistent practice of morality in rule. It may be a timeless promise that represents the lasting rule of right based on the ruler being fair and just in his administration of justice in the land. The qualification of the enduring administration is its moral character. The language of this proverb reflects the promise of the Covenant established by God with His servant David, Solomon’s Father. Directly related to the rulers of Israel, it could be a principle of rule that would apply to all morally, established governments.


One sees a strong relationship with the tenants of this Proverb to the form of government rule written by men like Thomas Jefferson and other founding Fathers the rule they established for America. One can merely read the United States’ Constitution to catch a glimpse of that moral, ethical character of government rule.


Thomas Jefferson knew this because he lived in a time of being under bondage from the British government that imposed the yoke of tyranny upon those under rule. He actually lived the "consequences" of those actions. That is why he and many other patriots of that time were motivated to change the conditions under which they lived. They longed for freedom from the tyranny that the king imposed. It would appear that Mr. Jefferson was well aware of the Scriptures and understood the consequences of subjecting the public to massive and unjust taxes that extended into generations hence.
