edition of The Courier, the front
page story entitled, "Budget fight erodes programs," reported a
program for youth offenders in a program in Rockford, Illinois, called,
"Redeploy Illinois" had to be closed in October last year because
there is no budget in Illinois to keep the program going. In essence, the program diverted troubled
youths after committing a crime to try to prevent them from committing other
crimes. The program was an alternative
to jail. The closing of the program left
at least 40 juveniles without the one-to-one supervision they had been
receiving. Consequently, some of those
very teenagers have been rearrested after at least 14 robberies were committed
on one day in January.
Of course in the
Twenty-First Century we obviously need to have special oversight with
governmental programs to form an external control over the minds and behaviors
of children and teens to keep them from robbing and pillaging from others. Society has progressed so much over the past
century that we have arrived at our carefully laid-out progressive, liberal
utopia where there are few, if any, moral standards, and certainly no substantive
internal controls on our behavior that may have in times past been taught in
families, churches, and schools. Our
secularized society has ensured that our young people are aware of what might
be "good" or "bad" according to their own personal desires
and choices, as the system has stomped out of them any idea of
"right" or "wrong."
There must be an external control factor to keep amoral people from
praying on others' in our society.
The modern intelligentsia of
society, especially in the most liberal, prestigious universities have taught
several generations now the importance of rejecting anything that has any
grounding in morality emanating from Deity.
Therefore, we have lost the teachings of family unity as a basic
foundational function of teaching good conduct and righteous living. A teaching that teaches youngsters the
practice of avoiding those things that bring destruction to self and others. Instead, they have taught those young minds
that "the personal right to choose" is the paramount adventure in
life.
Any form of Deity, or even
patriotism, is replaced by, "If it feels good, do it." Deity has been replaced with the god of
narcissism beginning with the love of self and no responsibility for anyone
else.
With materialism being the
staple of economic commerce, in our newly developed world without borders, Idolatry
has come roaring back as the god with power in wealth. The world currency sits on the pedestal for
every nation to acknowledge, as well as compete for dominance in the
competition to be on top in the game of king on a hill. Worship has been diverted to the new deities
from Friday Night Gridiron to the Board Room titans of industry pulling the
strings of the covey of politicians reading in vain the polls that send them in
the direction they think they need to travel.
Honoring the family tradition has been
replaced with the "government programs" that need to be funded with
non-existent budgets. Honoring parents
has run out of steam by the political and economic practices that has separated
families and placed them in the back of the line where they have been covered
up by the idols of entertainment, celebrity, and wealth. Even the life itself has gotten in the way of
the liberal progressive who declares that life thought to begin with conception
for thousands of years is now only fit to continue after conception if the
person already living life decides to let the new life live or die. Marriage is defiled at every turn; adultery
is the mainstay of movies, television, billboards, and schoolrooms across the
nation.
Stealing is considered a
right; especially when youngsters are taught by the highest leaders in the land
that those who are wealthy have likely stolen their wealth, or it has been
built on the backs of generations preceding the current one. The new mantra of idleness is
"redistribution" because it is a "right" to give to those
who do not have by taking from those who do.
Lying is not just a way of
life anymore, it is a necessity of getting ahead. Regardless if lying negates personal
integrity or credibility, it will be used as legitimate methods to assert
dominance over others, escape from misadventures and even convince some that
lying "protects" others. It
propels people to the highest levels; perhaps even the highest political levels
where its influence can continue the status quo.
Finally, having a craving
desire for having the materialistic things of others is a mainstay for robbery.
This, coupled with the personality
disorder of the sociopathic personality that actually becomes the motto of
gangs, corporations, workforces, Wall Street Hedge Fund operators, and almost
everyone who seeks the possessions of others, they say, "You should be
proud to give up what you have to give to me, because I am worth it, it is my
right, and frankly, I deserve it."
America is in the process of
losing morality, a personal relationship with the God of the Universe, a sense
of knowing what is right versus wrong, the family structure that builds
foundations on morality, the church that builds faith, love, and hope,
educational systems that once lifted the morality of family and church, and the
government that was once founded on a recognition of the Truth that rights are
granted by God.
So, it should not be any
surprise that even with the one-on-one supervision in a program funded by the
government that has run out of money, the kids in that program return to their
robbing, plundering, dissatisfied lives, disrespect for authority, lack of
internal control that robs them of personal responsibility, and possible
hopelessness and despair when they are lacking even a semblance of being taught
the difference between right and wrong.
It is like a dog returning to its vomit.
